Mr. Tse Win-Kuang Memorial Scholarip
Distinguished Award for the War of Resistance Studies in Hong Kong

 

Purpose

The friends and family members of Mr. Tse Win-Kuang together with the Society of Oral History on Modern China in Hong Kong, hereby established the "Mr. Tse Win-Kuang Memorial Scholarship" in memory of Mr. Tse in order to encourage and promote various studies on the history of the War of Resistance in Hong Kong.

 

Biographic Note on Mr. Tse

Mr. Tse Win-Kuang (1928-1998) was born in Hong Kong. He was an expert on Hong Kong history, senior newspaperman, acupuncturist and educator in Chinese traditional medicine. His publications include: Japanese War Time Atrocities in Hong Kong; The Sufferings of Three Years and Eight Months; The Unsettling Storms of Resistance against Japan in Hong Kong; The Fall of Hong Kong: 18 Days of Attack by the Japanese Troops: A True Reflection; The Unsettling Storms of Post-War Hong Kong, among others. These publications filled a big gap in Hong Kong's War of Resistance history.

 

Applicant's qualifications

Applicant must have:
      1. Participated in the conduct of oral interviews or their compilation related to the War of Resistance in Hong Kong and showed an outstanding performance, or:
      2. Compiled research paper related to Hong Kong's War of Resistance and achieved distinction.
      Priority consideration is given to those who have participated in interviews or activities organized by the Society.

 

Amount of Scholarship

The amount for Distinguished Award will be 2,500 Hong Kong dollars per person. The Award Committee will make adjustment according to the actual circumstance in each session.
